Golden Hour Maternity Photos

As a photographer, I have a deep appreciation for the magic of golden hour light. Those warm, glowing rays just before sunset have an almost ethereal quality that breathes romance and vibrance into portraits.

When this lovely couple reached out for a maternity session, they had one specific request – they wanted to capture that coveted golden hour sunshine. After having endured a cloudy, overcast wedding day in Italy, they were determined to bathe in those radiant rays for their maternity photos.

We initially planned their session at the picturesque Carnton Plantation in Franklin, TN during prime golden hour timing. However, Mother Nature didn’t want to cooperate at first, and we rescheduled a couple times due to rain and cloud cover. Every photographer knows the struggle of trying to make the sun follow your schedule!

Finally, the perfect sunny evening arrived. This glowing mama looked absolutely radiant in her fitted red maternity gown as we roamed the historic grounds, finding one dreamy pocket of buttery light after another. The love and excitement between the parents-to-be was so beautifully palpable.

Those last few rays of day created almost an iridescent look as they illuminated the couple’s silhouettes against the setting sun. Maternity sessions are always incredibly special, but there was something extra magical about capturing this fleeting moment before their lives change forever with a newborn.

I’m so grateful we persisted through the reschedules to attain those perfect golden hour portraits. These sun-drenched heirloom images will forever encapsulate their joy and anticipation of their growing family.
